One of our family members has a page I subscribe to, and I thought you may like to read her article this month. Feel free to reach out to TLT. The link is below....

Happy Summer! May your summer be all you want summer to be! Physically, I am well. But otherwise, I have been battling mental and spiritual turmoil. I have been struggling with direction, guidance, leading, hearing, perceiving; a sense of being off-course, being off-center, out-of-phase.

Two months ago I wrote this (in my phone notes). I have been of two minds whether to share it. It doesn’t put me in a very good light. Except that Truth is sorta my thing, so Truthful is what I believe I need to be.

Hearing and Miss-Hearing God

My aim is ever to pray/ask/affirm that I ever and always seek and heed the leading of the Spirit of YHVH. Nevertheless, sometimes I miss-hear, miss-understand, or worse – ignore what it is I am to write about.

After my last article was published, I decided to quickly write another, and get it published so that I would be publishing an article a month. (What “the world” says a “blogger” should do.)

I decided on a Word Study. I decided to write about Forgiveness. It was to be a “Quick” Word Study. Quickly written. Quickly published.

Whoa, was I wrong!

The subject “quickly” (😆) became enormous, wordy, unwieldy. And disconcertingly, knowledge of Unforgiveness in my life was “brought to my remembrance.”

Wow …

How unexpected! How uncomfortable. How humbling.

So, I stopped writing.

I said to myself: “I’ll deal with that later. Then I can write about Forgiveness, and offer a process to forgive others.”(Ok, I’ll admit, a teensy little bit of hubris there.)

(BTW: The time to have a “monthly” article published had long passed.)

I then sought another topic, another “word” to study.

Another “word” for a Quick Word Study. Quickly written. Quickly published.

I began working on the Hebrew word “Torah,” which means more than merely the usual definition of “law” in English. It’s more like “Instructions” or “Directions,” than like the English word “Law.” Again, it became enormous, wordy, unwieldy. It “quickly” () exploded into many points to ponder, a need for historical explanation, lots more research, even much, much more.

Again, the article that was to be “quickly” written and “quickly” published began to take longer and longer to “get ’er done.”

And it’s still not finished. I stopped working on it. (For now. It may become something sometime.)

Why?

Why was I having such a hard time coming up with a topic that “worked” for the time I had to write it?

Why?

I finally realized that I had been writing on my own choice of topic.

NOT on YHVH’s. I finally realized I had been pursuing my own choice of spiritual and intellectual direction. NOT YHVH’s. I finally realized I had been working in my own strength. NOT in YHVH’s.

I had not prayed/ asked/ affirmed on what topic I was to share next. (And listened for the answer.) I had not prayed/ asked/ affirmed in what timeframe I was to work. (And listened for the answer.) I had not prayed/ asked/ affirmed in what priority of tasks my article writing I was to be. (And listened for the answer.) I had not prayed/ asked/ affirmed that what I was doing was what YHVH wanted me to do. (And listened for the answer.)

I was running ahead (without listening). I was doing what I thought I should do (without listening). I was doing what I wanted to do (without listening). And I was expecting Him to bless it. (Has anyone else ever “resembled” that remark?)

So, now I’m two four months “late” with my “monthly” posting (and not a written “word” in sight to post).

What next? I’m praying, in:

Adoration. Praise. Thanksgiving. Confession. Repentance. And I’m trying hard to listen!!! And read the Word. To sit in silence. To be.

Be still and KNOW that I am Elohim [God - Mighty One] ...

Psalm 46:10 KJV

And to await the “still small voice” of YHVH. … and after the fire a still small voice

1 Kings 19:12 KJV

And so, I pray:

Father YHVH, I pray/ ask/ affirm that You have given me “ears to hear.” (Matthew 11:15)

May I ever and only hear and know the Truth, Your Truth, Your whole Truth, and nothing except Your Truth, through Your Spirit.

May it be so. Make it be True.

Amen and Amen.

Until … ?

Blessings,

TLThomas

Be a Berean

The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.
