Verse of the Week: John 1:5
"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." (John 1:5)
From the very beginning, Yehovah has been separating light from darkness. In Genesis, He spoke light into existence, and throughout Scripture, that light represents His truth, righteousness, and presence. John reveals that this light has been made known to us through Yeshua, the living Word of Yehovah. No matter how great the darkness becomes, it cannot extinguish the light of the Messiah.
We are living in a world where darkness is increasingly celebrated and righteousness is often rejected. Yet Scripture reminds us that this struggle is nothing new. The prophets warned of a time when evil would be called good and good would be called evil (Isaiah 5:20). As we approach the return of Yeshua, we should expect opposition to Yehovah's truth. However, our response must not be fear or compromise, but steadfast faithfulness to His Word.
Yeshua did not come to abolish the Torah, but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17). His life demonstrated perfect obedience to the Father, showing us what it means to walk in righteousness. Psalm 119:105 declares that Yehovah's Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Walking in that light means more than simply acknowledging the truth. It means living according to His commandments, honoring His appointed times, and remaining faithful to His covenant.
The darkness may appear to be advancing, but it will never have the final victory. Yehovah has not forgotten His promises to Israel, nor has He abandoned those who remain faithful to Him. The same Yeshua who came as the Light of the world will return as the victorious King, establishing His righteous Kingdom from Jerusalem. Until that day, we are called to endure, remain obedient, and reflect His light in a world that desperately needs it.
So, this week, examine whether your life truly reflects the light of Yeshua. Are you allowing the pressures of this world to influence your walk, or are you standing firmly on the commandments of Yehovah? Spend time in His Word, seek to walk in obedience, and refuse to compromise His truth for the approval of others. Remember that darkness does not overcome light. As we remain faithful to Yehovah and follow the example of Yeshua, we can face the days ahead with courage, knowing that His promises are certain and His Kingdom is coming.
